For the first few months of the pandemic, I was--like many--a hot mess. I was super stressed, scared, and constantly on edge. After a while, I decided that I couldn't keep living this way. I was not the partner, mom, or worker I wanted to be. I was also unhappy and exhausted. During that time, I turned back to the various slogans I learned and relied on during early recovery (I've been sober almost 20 years). I realized that these truisms were exactly what I needed to recover emotionally from this pandemic.
I was so grateful that YouthToday gave me space to reflect on those slogans and share with others why I think it's important that we take it easy on ourselves, and believe that this too shall pass.
